Australian gold group Karora Resources appointed Bevan Jones as its chief operating officer for Australia, it revealed in an August announcement.

Jones, who will oversee day-to-day operations country-wide, is replacing a retiring Graeme Sloan. The company said it will continue to benefit from Graeme’s input as he will remain a member of senior management as an advisor.

Jones is a 27-year industry veteran, with positions focused on mine management and leadership. He was previously a general manger for Gold Fields, specifically at the St. Ives operation – which is situated next to Karora’s Beta Hunt mine.

Karora said it has targeted 185,000 to 205,000 ounces of gold by 2024 from Beta Hunt as well as its Higginsville gold operations, both of which are in Western Australia.
